The gorgeous smells of a freshly roasted pig often drive our customers wild, and that’s just what happened at a fancy dress-themed birthday party that we catered over the weekend. While the jungle theme for Paul’s 12th birthday meant that many of the guests were dressed as wild animals, we’re still pretty sure it was our delicious Hog Roast Canonbury that drove everyone wild!
Paul’s family enjoyed a Hog Roast Canonbury extravaganza of ours over the summer months and then again just before Christmas, so when his parents asked him how he would like to celebrate his birthday, the last one before officially becoming a teenager, he didn’t have to think twice before choosing a hog roast himself. For around 30 guests of his extended family members and plenty of friends, Paul asked us to provide our famous pigs in buns, so freshly-roasted pork slices and crackling bits in soft rolls, topped with our scrumptious apple sauce and stuffing – both of which are homemade. A vegetarian guest opted for our homemade veggie burger to eat alongside the rolls and sauces, and everyone could feast on fresh salads and baked potatoes too.
On the day of the party, with a 4pm service in mind, we arrived at the home venue to set up our equipment in the large back garden. A hog takes a few hours of clear cooking, so after erecting the gazebo and serving station, the first order of the day was turning the machine on and then prepping the meat with water and salt and scoring all over. Some hours later and the hog was sizzling away and it was time to add the jacket potatoes to the machine.
Those lovely aromas had already filled the air when Paul and his parents came outside dressed as a lion, a tiger and a monkey, and they all begged for a taste. However, a Hog Roast Canonbury is only done when it’s done, so they would have to wait.
Once the guests started to arrive, plenty of them began to lick their lips in anticipation too and It didn’t take long before we were serving plenty of hungry guests plenty of lovely food.
