This week Hog Roast London were tasked with a providing a very special customer of ours, Mabel, a meal for her 70th birthday. Mabel had been a keen customer of Hog Roast London ever since we first set up our business and in fact, I think we had catered at every one of her birthdays for the past decade! With such a loyal customer we had to go all out to impress for this landmark birthday and so when Mabel’s, daughter Astrid contacted us we got to work planning the menu right away.
Usually, Mabel favours a traditional Hog Roast London or some of our hot hog sandwiches however this year Astrid mentioned she thought it would be a good opportunity for us to show off our other menus and that she thought her mum would quite like to try our Southern Slow Roast menu. This menu encompasses your choice of three different types of meat that we roast low and slow for several hours over open flames in order to give the meat that beautifully smoky taste. Before roasting, our meats are marinated overnight in our secret recipe rubs to ensure they are packed full of flavour when it’s time to carve them.
Astrid consulted with Mabel and together they decided on our Texan 24 Hour Beef Brisket, Cajun Spiced Whole Roast Chickens and some Fall Off the Bone Louisiana Sticky Pork Ribs. What a delicious combo! For the accompaniments, they chose our signature Greek Salad, jacket potatoes and our Memphis style crunchy coleslaw. Astrid also enlisted our help in bringing out the birthday cake that she had made with her own children and wanted us to serve it up into slices once we had all sang happy birthday to Mabel. With everything prepared this was set to be a lovely landmark birthday party!
